I think the chip on a 2.8 isnt for performance gains like the 1.8t but for killing that flat spot I hear about and giving the engine more robust fuel map. For $500 I woulda done the same thing had I gotten lucky and found a 2.8.

Onepoint8tee ------>What the hell is with these people lately? Can you not read???? I said above, the tip chip affects the speed/response of the gears shifting (making it faster) Youve probably realized by now that the automatic tranny is slow shifting. The coding that you had done only changes the rpm that it will shift at.. As in, it delays up shifting, it will take longer in the rpm's for it to shift. ALL the tip chip does is shorten the time that it takes to go from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th etc. It even shortens the time that it takes to engage into Drive when shifting from park.. same for reverse. Do a freakin search on stuff you want to know.. Isnt this common knowlege to use the search?!?!?!!!!????? I posted a Tip chip article yesterday as a matter of fact.

In Response to Onepoint8tee ----> Wow. Not sure if you have attempted to search for good information and detailed feedback on a tip chip? I can tell you from searching last evening, I found many questions, not facts or statements reguarding the tip chip. The info. that is given is poor at best, and very inept. My questions are for people who use adjectives to describe their tip chip. Yet for some reason, you find this insatiable need to come and answer questions with the lack of articulation that you would to need sound intelligent enough to drive an Audi. LOL. Just F****ng with ya man!!! LOL

thanks for the input on a 2.8 chip.i've inquired before specifically to a 2.8 30v'er that has first hand knowledge of performance gain and only got 1 crappy response from a 1.8'er.

It is actually a very good purcahse. It's not that much money for such immediate gains. I personally was looking for low end toruqe, and I gained some, but I gained a nice smooth torque curve from 1500 RPM to 4000 RPM. I also noticed travelong around 75 MPH that if you want to stomp on the gas and go, it will go now. It is much more responsive and that makes this so much more fun to drive.

I hope you werent talking about my response. I was very impressed with the gains he stated and now I wish I had been able to find a 2,\.8 over my 1.8t

I have an adjetive for you buddy

But seriously.. Youll find some of the adjetives you are looking for in that tip chip article i was talking about. Oh, if you wanna talk about articulation..
"Yet for some reason, you find this insatiable need to come and answer questions with the lack of articulation that you would to need sound intelligent enough to drive an Audi. " ... This is what you call a "run on." LOL Just ******* with YOU man!!!LOL. I have read it about 9 times and cannot make sense of it.. I agree that there are more questions than facts/statements on the subject though in general though.
