Default Number of teeth on a timing belt

Well I splashed out and bought a new head for my ADR engined A4, together with timing belt, tensioner new head bolts and all the other stuff.

However, the belt tensioner was different design to the one that was on - looks like the later version that pushes an arm up to apply tension. I bought the belt tensioner and belt as an INA kit from GSF.

I put it all together and the belt just doesn't fit. It seems to have the same number of teeth on as the old one (152) but I see that there are other versions with 153 teeth.

Can anyone please tell me why an extra tooth was added to the belt and when, and if anyone has any tips on getting the belt on, I'd be pleased to hear it.

Thanks in advance guys.

Contact GSF, giving them your engine code and VIN.
They should help you.

That's how I got where I am [&o]Spoke to Stu at Newcastle and he says give him both part numbers for the idler. Makes sense, but I assumed theidlerthey gave me was a replacement for the one that was on. And why the different number of teeth?
