I finally got around to getting out the laptop and trying to get on Vag-com to look at a few things and mainly find the part number for my TCU. First of all I get everything running, com3... port status is ok, but the interface status says 3 - not found or not ready Because of this every time I try to run the autoscan it fails, i'm assuming because this is happening. Any help, I've tried all sorts of drivers I think, but nothing seems to work.

I did that and for the other three ports it instantly popped up saying 'com port status : inaccessible'

Should I switch the usb port I'm using on the laptop? Any other ideas?

 

USB is a pain at best of times you need to install a serial port

 

the problem with USB are the driver incompatibility with VAG software ( USB and USB 2 ) a serial input resolves this, I had that problem and one min it would read then nothing so I put it down to USB

 

So just find a laptop with serial, or lug a desktop out into the garage then?
