get it welded by a profesional welding shop that has equipment to weld aluminium. cheaper.. trust me

either way its goin to cost him the same amount for labour to weld the oil pan. u still have to remove it,weld it,test it to make sure it doesnt leak even then its not a full garente. it will take lease time to just put out the extra couple of bucks to get a new one.

thats why we need those crazy strong steel skids that someone makes so squirrels and small holes dont break our oil pans

You really don't need to take the bottom sub frame out. Just loosen your motor mounts and jack the engine up. I changed mine last month on a 01 a4 1.8 and that worked for me... Just don't forget about those two back bolts, Thats what held me up when I changed mine, I couden't figure out why the pan wouden't fall eventhough I had taken all of the visabel bolts off. By the way you will have to turn over your engine to spin the flywheel to get the two back bolt off ( use a socket and turn it by hand). Make sure you have a long extension and the correct star bit for the back bolts.
