Possible to replace thermostat without removing much?

If you take the balley pan off. Don;t you have to drain the oil inside or are there 2 belly pans under the car?

Does anyone know if the same method will work on the 2005 2.0T?

I'm thoroughly excited to attempt this rather than drop $500+ at the dealer.

Hey Snick did you ever get an answer or source for your project. I too need to replace my thermostst on my B7 2005.5 A4 2.0T.

I'm 90% sure now that the video I posted is not for the B7.

a. the appropriate part only comes with the plastic housing for the B7
b. I got a quote from the garage where they said they have to go in through multiple other components. $616 they quoted, although that includes the 85,000 mile service. Still seems kinda pricey.

Crap, I think you are right! It sucks, that Audi would place a thermostat where they did on the B7 Are you paying attention Audi?
