Problems to look for?? in 01-02 B6 when purchasing??
Hello,
I joined recently did the intro thing, but now I have some specific questions. I have done a search on problems with A4's and notice alot on here are for the B5. I am going to be looking at a B6 today or tomorrow and apart from the standard issues like a bodgey fix on a crash what do I need to look for or ask the owner?
Just wondering on things like types of electrical issues?
I noticed that control arms and CV joints were an issue on earlier models, is this the same for the B6's too?
I also noticed that timing belts were mentioned it seems like they are meant to be done around the 120-140 mark but some have troubles as early as 70?
Just trying to get my head around the intracacies of these cars.
I'm not a complete dullard, have been playing with cars for most of my life but at the other end of the spectrum, I'm not up with ecu's and variable cam timing or OHV for that matter. I'm 32 but have a passion for the 40's look. but know and understand the principles.
so if anyone can warn me on things to look for or questions to ask regarding what should have been done at servicing I would be very grateful.
heres a photo of my current weekend ride that I built from scratch.
TIA flatoz

audis are gonna have electrical problems...simply because there is so much technology going on, there is gonna be SOMETHING that goes wrong. lol. people get the timing belt changed every 60k, thats suggested. ive never heard of a timing belt lasting for 140k miles lol. i own a b5 so idk too much about a b6 but they are sweet rides. just pick it up, it will be totally worth it.
thanks,
sorry metric system I was talking about 140 km. car I am looking at has done 88 kms so I guess I should expect a timing belt at around 100km which is about 60k mi.
anyone else?
