Its only cheap if you do it yourself, dealer charges around $400 labor.

Yeah a leaking coolant flange can cause the engine to overheat if its been leaking a while. The o-ring is the only thing that needs replacing but commonly the flange gets trashed when removing it so just replace the whole flange, it comes with a new o ring. Its only like $50 at the dealer.
Im sorry bro that does suck, if you're planning on DIY its about as hard as doing a headgasket too.
You'll probably go through then entire alphabet of curse words before you even get it out.
Plan on spending about 6-8 hours doing the job if you haven't done one before.

just finished intalling the new coolant flange. with my connect at the dealer it came to a grand total of 18 bucks

and auditech u scared the crap out of me when you said 6-8 hours. it took just under an hour to complete. a couple nuts were a beyotch to get off and on and the hose connected to the bottom end took forever to rip off and i almost lost the little metal clip for it. but all in all it wasn't bad at all. there was one metal piece that jutted out from the engine which seems like its only purpose was to slice my arm up on this job lol but o well. time to do a coolant flush and oil change then next week clutch and FMIC. my car will FINALLY be running right again

I need to change mine to. I have been leaking for a long time and have just been running water. I am going to pick one up at the dealer this week and replace it when I replace my turbo and such.

Do you have any tips???

Josh

1. find a friend with small hands
2. get a SMALL socket wrench
3. DONT lose the metal clip that holds the bottom hose in place

other than that just have patience. you'll only need to turn the socket wrench once to loosen them and you can loosen the rest by hand. and when you re-tighten the bolts dont over tighten them or you'll crack the plastic. good luck and PM me if you have any problems

Yeah you must have double joints to be able to a 1.8T flange that fast! It took me over 4 hours my first time, i have them down to 25 minutes now. They pay 1.4 hours flat rate. [:'(]
