READ THIS IF YOU HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!

Ok, here goes. I'm hoping for some ideas. I bought an 03 A4 Quattro a month or so ago. I love the car, but the dealer was a bit shady. It had 125k on the clock, and some service records. The car ran fine. I knew when I bought it I'd be putting a timing belt, water pump, etc kit on it right away. It threw a code 122 miles after I bought it, misfire cyl 6. So I got a real good tune up on it, and a full syn oil change. Same code came back in 22 miles. Took it in and did the timing belt stuff, and threw a coil on 6. ( Looked at "old" parts, nearly new condition so that was a wasted 1750 bucks, but oh well.) Drove the stupid thing 22 miles, threw a misfire cyl 6 code AGAIN. What could be next in line for causing a misfire on 6? And, how can I check my cat converter myself for blockage? Is it possible even?
My car runs out nice. Nice nice. A little rough idle, but just because I'm listening and picky probably..... where's my next move?
Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way.

Tough, unless you or someone you know is good with a oscilloscope or a teardown to get to the injector.

Ok, I'm new here and having CEL issues so I read this. Thanks it helps.
However, the trouble I am having is that the CEL flashes under heavy acceleration and engine begins to sputter. I have a 2004 A4 1.8T and generally love the car. Checked the codes and it said cylinder 4 misfiring. Changed all 4 spark plugs with NGK double platinum, and all 4 coils with new. Problem went away for a day or two and is back again... Thinking to tackle the EGR / PCV system next. I believe there might be a leak in the vacuum check valve assembly, could that be source of the problem? Any input / suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Help for a new audi owner.
Hi guys Ive had my a4 quattro for 2 weeks now and apoun buying it had a very low idle when car warms up (rough idle). I've had to drive the car to get safety, but only drive it out of complete necessity. I had my mechanic hook up his smoke machine and I in fact do have leaks. On my way back from getting my safety my check engine light came on showing P0444 and p0300. I will be finding my leaks and replacing vacuum lines tommoro, hopefully it resolves my issues. This car is very tuned and I'm having a hard time figuring out what stage clutch and and basic info on mods. On the hood says clutch masters and je pistons leading me to belive engine has be done. Exhaust is after market and very Loud again hard to find a brand on it, there is no cat.

in my case, it ended up being that the head gasket was blown and oil was leaking into and fouling cylinder / ignition coil. try changing out ignition coils, and spark plugs. if problem comes back or persists, do a compression check. my two cents.

Love the gist of the post, appreciate the effort! Hoping to get some help on my P0011 in the B8 forum. Replaced the usual suspects. timing chain, tensioner, guides, slide rail, timing cover, intake cam control valve/vvt solenoid/cam actuator (are these three things the same? I am very confused based on googling. If not, replaced the intake cam control valve). 2012 2.0TFSI manual 86k miles.
Also, is there an upper and lower chain? when I google the p/n on the invoice, it says....lower I think, so, does that mean there's two, and I've only replaced one (same with the cover, etc.)?

I have a 2007 18t, so I am not sure if the above advice applies. It has an intermittent misfiring fault. It's been checked by the RAC, an Audi 'specialist' garage, and a mobile mechanic. None could state what the problem was, because the misfiring was fairly random.
The plugs have been replaced and the coil pack at least checked; the battery is also new. I don't the know the codes offhand but one was for cylinder 4, then that switched to cylinder 2 for a while! The compression is ok.
So I suspect a management fault of some kind, but someone suggested that the catalytic converters may be the problem.
Any suggestions welcome, because this fault has been getting worse recently.
Thanks
