Default remote?

i was just woundering if anybody knew the correct replacement batteries for the remote? because i called three dealerships and they all told me different numbers i bought the cr1620! are those the right ones adn do i have to reprogram the remote once i put the knew ones in?

the reason i am replaceing the batterys is when i bought the car 5-6 months ago it work alittle bit but i had to be real close to get it to work!with in the last couple days it just stopped working? does your remotes work from a ways away or do i have something else wrong andthat is whymy remote wont work?

thank you

Try the DIY section. I'm pretty sure there's a guide in there on how to program the key in there. I did both of mine. Only takes a couple minutes.

you can open up the key and look at the batteries themselves to see what kind they are, its in the manual.

These cars dont get a very far range with the remote. There is a DIY on the zine or 1 of the other Audi sites that tells you how to increase the distance by relocating the antenna from the fender to the rear baffle board.

Yes you will have to reprogram the remote, not difficult. Not quite sure which batteries work. For some reason the range on the b5 is very short, mine is about 20'.

Open your remote and find out. For my 02 A4, it's a CR 2032. Take your old batt out and bring it to a drug store and just match it up. Here in Canada a local Shopper's Drug Mart usually has these types of Batteries. Hope this helps

By the way, it's not the battery. The remote is just a P.O.S.
