Default Replaced Air Filter, What happened??

Hello I just replaced the Air Filter on my 02 1.8t and now the check engine light keeps coming on. The codes that it gives me are PO171, (bank one too lean) and PO102 (Mass Air Flow Low Input) does anybody know why these keep coming on. I dont know if i did something wrong or what. I installed a brand new K&N filter. Thanks for any help you may have.

you probably got some oil on the maf from the k&n. check the maf and wipe it clean. i think that should fix your problem.

that would be my guess if you got a K&N or somethign similar with oil on it, replace the filter with a OEM one or similar and clean the MAF with some MAF cleaner or denatured alcohol

Just tryed cleaning the mass air flow sensor and the same code keeps coming up. The traction control light comes on and then about two minutes later the check engine light will go. Any thoughts

My MAF went bad at 87K mi.
I would think oil from the K&N filter
is causing your problem.
