Replacing the turbo. Is it a good DIY job?

The most important part of the turbo install, is not having a dry start. You must crank the engine over several times without starting the engine, to build oil feed to the turbo. Otherwise when you turn on the car, yor turbo will have no lubrication.

One more quick tip...an air rachet and compressor makes the job a 1000 times easier. Its really hard to turn a rachet where some of the bolts are located and extensions don't really work in those places either.

yeah, like the lower manifold bolts are a f*cking pain in the *ss.

I'm hoping to start the job Saturday. Will I need to get the manifold off? Or, just get the turbo off the manifold?
