does anyone know if an 04 a4 steering assembly in the same with our without steering wheel controls? Just curious if Audi ran the harness through the steering columb or not... I don't have steering wheel controls and wanted to know if it was as easy as just adding the wheel with controls.

I was vag-com'ing mine earlier, and though it does not have the steering wheel controls, it seems to have the module for it. My guess is you can swap on a steering wheel with controls, maybe recode a module or two, and it should be good to go.

 

Ive never seen the connector for the steering wheel buttons on a car without the buttons. Never really looked that hard for it thou. The steering wheel electronics module that you found with the vagcom was probably just steering angle sensor. Most all audi's with esp will have that module.
