Default Temp regulator flap problem..cold air

My heater blows out cold air. The heater core is circulating water and both hoses are hot. The thermostat is ok. The engine temp gets warm fast enough.

When I search codes at http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int5.shtml#DiagCodes I get a 22.1 as the first system malfunction code which makes no sense as that is talking about the a/c.

Does anyone know how to manually open or close the flap? Also, does anyone know what would be appropriate values for codes 36 to 37 on that chart?

mast,

What does that all mean? Can the center flap be seen when the glove compartment is removed?

Since my 1998 is currently in the shop for (among other things) this same problem - I'd also be interested in what your learned. It looks like my problem is related to the lap also as both sides of the core are warm. I actually faxed the dealer this post (I'm sure they'll be thrilled) since they are talking about dismantling the center console to get at it.

Mast, your answer brings another question. I also need to replace the evaporator core. Does the whole dash have to come out to do that? Is it hard to get the glove box out?

OK, I took out the glove box. There are not any motors or anything that look like controllers behind the glove box. Are you sure you mean the glove box?

I think I found them! Behind the radio and climate control unit, there are some black plastic things with some red and some blue plastic things on them. Are those the actuators?

I didn't have to remove anything to see them. But, I had to lay on the passenger side floor, looking up towrads the middle of the car.
