Hi all,

Having just recently picked up an 1999 a4 2.4 se 47000miles. I am noticing some strange things, but not sure if they are 'normal'.

The first thing I have noticed is an occasional thud noise coming from the centre / rear of the car then putting the car into gear (usually first, but sometime second when gear changing is rushed). Having read this link epinions is seems that this may be normal ?

Secondly, when driving at about 80mph there is a very noticable vibration through the seats / interior of the car. Strange?

Would be grateful for any thoughts.

I assume that this is a auto, not manual.

Maybe loose mounts, but most likely it is the universal joint.

The 80mph vibration sounds like a rear wheel that's either bent or out of balance.

im now off to the garage i got it from to see what they are going to do about it.

I will provide an update when they have checked the car over.
