trust me i tried everything to get the chip. i said it does everything from improve the mpg, to tune the abs system, i came up with so much b.s. about the chip and they still wont let it fly. and dont worry i have a job, i pay for my car and my insurance and icommute to school so i really dont have enuf time to work and save up money thats y i was askin my rents for the chip. im probably gunna get a ratchet set from snap on or something cause i still have the connection from when i worked at a body shop. what are the real names for those screwdrivers that have the star shaped head? i wanna get a set of those too. and cincy i would do the diode cause i read the entire thing and was gunna do it befor i read that the car has to be a '00 or '01 or something, my cars a 99 even tho thats not wut it says in my name.
Called torx, you can get torx bits, torx drivers, torxbits that fit on a 3/8" drive ratchet, etc... get a T-15, T-20, T-25, T-30, T-40 and T-50set and you shouldbe fine.

Yup, you'd need a MAP sensor for that diode mod.

Speed Tuning has a deal ending this month - send in your chip and they do it for $125 - better than paying $500.
http://www.speedtuningusa.com/ call Oliver and tell him your with Arron's group buy on Audi Forums, and he'll tell you what to do. Thisecu programis actually very good. I did mine and like it a lot. You can afford $125 plus shipping, right? It adds about 50 hp steadily increasing through the rpm range, and increases the torquewhere itwould normallyplateau with the stock ecu programming. Your '99 is a 1.8T, right?
a few of us have done it and like it. read the speedtuning chip reviews posts.

yeah ive been following the speedtuning group buy and everything, the only reason im hesitating on it is because i plan on doing a lot of mods in the spring and cant afford to send out the ecu every time i mod it. how long did it take you to get the ecu back? if its like 3 days i can probably work with that but if its longer then that i cant do it. i kno im gunna get the tools that i need to wrench my own car and hopefully i can convince my rents to buy the chip too.
