Torn CV boot, replace both?
haha, i would like to tell yout hat i have snapped my CV joint on the first audi i fixed, a 98 A4 2.8 Avant, but it wasn't the CV's fault it was the motor's, because i took off, and the motor died in the middle of shifting to second at about 40mph, and when i let go of the clutch *BANG* it was like trying to push start hte motor from 0 RPM to 3,500 RPM in a split second... but yeah unless your motor betrays you like that they are pretty bullet proof.
Russian, Thanks, good to know. I had probs with cv joints all the time on the VWs I had before the A4. I was actually wondering with all the power these cars can make if any aftermarket axles were necessary to handle the higer tq and hp. I guess not.
I still remember the first cv joint i ever broke. winter. snow covered empty parking lot. fwd vw golf. cutting the wheel and doing donuts in reverse. so much fun, then... *BANG*. just like that.even if the a4 cv joints are bulletproof, i won't be doin that againever - except maybe in a rental car with insurance.haahaa.
