urgent PLEASE help stupid stuff up!!!!!

ok ive just got an 2000 a4 turbo 1.8 auto. i thought i would give it an oil change. not thinkin at all (can burn me later) i undid and drained the auto fluid by accident ok im a ********..... after i removed that plastic cover (why is that cover there in the first place?) which hides the actual engine oil drain plug all was good.....exept 1 thing..............can someone please tell me where you fill the auto trans fluid how much it should take and what kind 2 use as the manual doesnt say. im really stuck atm as i need the car to get to work tomorrow.

you can only buy the fluid from the dealer or an online parts store. There is a specific procedure and it also requires a special pump. Dealer time my friend.

Or at least a shop that specializes in VW/Audi.
Cost to replace the lost fluid would likely run 90-100 dollars inc labour.

On the bright side, it was probably time to put in a few quarts of fresh fluid. Consider it providence that you accidentally performed some preventive maintenance. In the long run, you should probably have done it.

BTW, the fluid should have been a nice honey colour.

yeah, i was getting a service done on it next week anyway, and i forgot my roadside assistance will cover the tow...the oil was disgusting!!!! black/grey and seemed a bit watery (no white spots), i looked on the castrol website and they say that their 'transmax z' suits this car....its a fully synthetic oil. ive just got to make sure that that would be ok..im not taking it to an audi dealer they are and absolute rip off!!! they wanted $850 to change a timing belt so who knows how much for an auto service
