What do i need? K&N cone filter

RE: What do i need? K&N cone filter
You should search and read the stickys at the top. These basics are covered many times over.
The stock airbox is more than sufficient if you put in a drop in k&n panel filter, until you go bt.
Some do it anyway because it makes the dv more noticeable, but you wont gain anything, in fact you may lose torque depending on your setup.
Someone will probably disagree with me, butI am right. search for the thousands of posts about it, and you can make your own informed judgement on the subject.

I think if you do the setup right, and spend the required money you can make a intake/heatshield setup that is more efficient than our stock airboxes... not by much but you'll gain throttle response, and pull longer in the RPM range beause its sucking in more air. Its pretty noticable, well for me the change was anyway

So instead of typing out a ton here i'll sum it up.... butamaze and acetrebobasically said it
If you get a cone intake you will hear a deeper noise, and your psssshhh from your DV, and will be a bit deeper. However,I did mine a few weeks ago and I think because I was pulling more air I blew a spring in my DV, so now it makes this snake noise... look for my other thread on like the 2nd page on the forums. Its ok though cause I was planning on ordering a forge007...
Main thing though is you need a really good heat shield for this to even be considered. When I frist did mine I didn't have one, and you can tell a MAJOR difference when first accelerating... like it lags. Once I got a good heat shield I think that it works just or close to as well when first accelerating as the stock air box, but pulls harder above 3k rpms.
Basically if you do a cone intake its just for the noise. But I went to autozone and just picked up a packages thing they had there, it wasn't a K&N but just make sure you also get a smaller filter for your secondary air hose.
