Default Wondering about cltuch

Well my new ko4 deff. has prompted me to look into clutches, and i guess im going to spend about 400 for a stage 2 clutch from southbend. But honestly how much is an install 600+?? Becasue that really sucks, to the point whe im wondering if its worth installing myself. ANY info would be nice.

It's a bigger project than you guys seem to think.. Good luck with that idea. I'd leave it to the pro's unless you know what your doing and you know what needs to be done. I wish you luck.

I've done clutches in both my front-drive cars and my rear-drive cars. Neither of those is really all that bad, but doing an AWD (if your car is a Quattro) I could see it being a real b*stard. Not to mention you really DO need to know what you're doing, or have the assistance of someone who does. These cars aren't exactly Ford Escorts, and it's gonna be time-consuming to go in and undo the job to fix an oversight if one occurs. Having someone who has done a clutch or two on an Audi just like yourswould make it more feasible to do yourself, but if someone like that isn't available, bite the bullet and pay up. That way, if something gets F'ed up, it's not your problem to fix it/pay for it. I'm a huge proponent of DIY, but some things really ARE better left to the pros unless you've done them and have some extra hands that have experience.

It's not that bad but I wouldn't want to do it on jackstands. I would say 6 hours is a reasonable amount of time to get it done if it is a quattro (I haven't done mine yet but I would think 6 would do). What kind of hourly rate does the shop have.

I have heard 8 hours is the going time for the job, even with a pro doing it.
