Hi,

I have a '00 A6 1.8T. This morning (very cold!), when starting up the car, there was initially a loud whinning noise from the engine, which lasted only a few seconds. After these few seconds, the engine & the car seem to sound & drive as normal. This now occurs every time I start the car & the time management light is constantly on since.

The car was only service 2 weekd ago.

Any help / advice would be apprieciated!

What kind of oil are you using? That whine is your turbo. When it is cold oil is very thick and takes longer to ciruclate through the motor. Make sure when it is cold you giv emaple time for the car to sit and idle to warm up properly. About the light...you got me..See what a vag-com says..Take it back to your dealer and explain the issue.

 

Are you sure you have a 1.8T and not a 2.7T

If you have a tip transmission it might be your secondary air injection...Dode it do the same thing when it is worm?
