Just brought an Audi A6... the rear windows are not working for some reason. I forgot to check before I brought it. Anyway the front windows work and the sunroof as well. I thought about replacing the fuse but according to the manual the fuse for the sunroof and windows are the same and if the sunroof works the rear windows should work. I deactivated the safety switch and they both still don't roll down. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I going to be spending a lot of money to replace the windows? Please help!

Even I have the similar problem with my Audi A6, My rear windows dont roll down, but the sunroof works fine. Also the rear windows dont roll down with the driver master switch. But one of the rear windows opens with the remote control.

Please help , is there a fuse to be replaced ???? and where can i get a fuse map ???

 

i have a 1999 a6 and i don't have quite the problem but sometime my driver side rear window refuses to close so i have to try either once more or mulitiple times... arg

 

You might have broken wires in the rubber bellows from the door to the front door jamb.

If you do try to fix them, they are all color coded. There is very little slack, so you might have to splice a piece into any broken wires.

I've had to do it several times to my various Audis. Worst part is, you can't slide the bellows out of the way. Hole's too small both ends. I had to slice mine open then tape it shut again.

The wires break from flexing, opening and closing the doors. About 50 wires in that bundle, short distance, bend about 90 deg every time you open and close.

Have to do it now to the car I am driving because my newer one is still in the shop. (Should get it tomorrow or the next day, 48 days so far, being jacked by the warranty company.) My rears quit again. Better than the fronts, I smoke, though ALL of them have quit at times. Think it was the main power feed that time.

i think, your power window motor is bad.

 

You should be able to check the voltage at the rear and main door window switches, without having to take the doors completely apart. If you have the Audi shop manual CD, you can look at the wiring diagrams, and for how to remove the switches. Next, test the switches and wiring between the switches for continuity.
I have a 1998 A6 wagon, but since it has the C4 chassis the window wiring diagram may not be the same as for a 1998 A6 sedan.
Do a search of the forum for "window motor", etc.
