Default Engine removal 2.7t

The easiest way to do this is to purchase the manual. I know it is $80 that could be spent elsewhere, but if you get the cd rom version, you can print out the relevant pages, get them dirty, check things off, etc. It will walk you through this process. It is not that hard, but there is a lot of ground to cover. Start with the right tools; knowledge!

Best of luck!

Do yourself a favor. It'll take quite awhile but can be invaluable if you're not intimately familiar with the entire engine bay. Buy a few sheets of small adhesive tags. When you unplug the first connector, label both sides (engine side and harness side) as "1" and continue on with 2, 3, 4, etc. Later when you reinstall the engine, just match the numbers up and you won't have to worry about making incorrect connections. Do the same for any vacuum lines as well. It'll seem tedious but you'll be glad you did it later.

I spoke with a good source, he suggested getting the engine up high to clear the downpipes, put the trans on a greater angle, and pull like heck

Thank you very much, the one on audizine i am probably going to read through, and watch that video a few more times to double check my work and start tuggin early morning. But thank you very much Ryan. Any more info would help greatly though, and would you suggest pulling eng/tran on the allroad or just pulling the engine tomorrow. Because the allroad wont have the clutch crap to worry about. The trq converter just just slide right out on it. Input? Thank you again.

Pull the engine and trans together on the TIP, the TC actually slides onto the input shaft and turns to lock, I have always found it easier to pull both at the same time.

Ya know... I was a mechanic at a Ford Dealership for years, you would think I would have known to do this.... So Im guessing Im gonna have a hell of a time when I go to reinstall huh....? Damn my short sightedness, gets me every time... I have the alldata here at the house and it dont say anything about removal, reinstall procedure. All I wanted to do was replace a head gasket for local dealer here and it seems I may have bitten off more then I want or could chew here.... Dude, If ya got any pointers besides that one about "sticky labels" to make this job go faster for me, Im all "eyes on the screen" Brother. At the rate it's goin now I wont get to ride my Harley for 2 weeks or more

EDIT: Ah..... I think I got this, I kept reading through, found the pics and the video ( kinda retro looking but hey it works)
