Default 2000 A6 will not start after doing a head job

Hi everyone i am having an issue on my 2000 a6 2.7l t a while back the car would not start so i did a few tests and found out it was the fuel pump so i replaced that as well as the fuel filter and new spark plugs, about 2 months after that the car overheated i had a cracked Aux. Water Pump so i replaced that, and then the car had started randomly blowing white smoke then it would go away until one day 5 months ago it didnt stop so i parked the car to avoid more damage to the car, i began searching around forums and came up with 2 possibilities, either the turbos went or head gaskets, so i check the turbos first they appeared to be fine according to what i found on forums on how to check them, the head gaskets however were not they were rusty on the inside, the reason i had to actually take heads apart was because i caught the issue so early on that there really wasnt any milky oil until i pulled the head apart. So i replaced the Head Gaskets/valve cover gaskets/and spark plugs gaskets and began to put the car back together, upon taking everything off i found my breather hoses were almost clogged solid so i cleaned the deposits out of those, as well as out of my egr valves and replaced the gaskets in those as well. once i got the car back together i was excited to get to drive again but the car will not start, it turns over like it wants to but nothing, my plugs are getting fuel, i havent been able to do a spark check or a compression check as of yet but those were both fine prior to the job, besides the blown gaskets. the car ran though. i recently picked up a cheapy Vag-com cable to hook up to my laptop an ebay one i guess and i ran vcds lite on it it came up with this

VCDS-Lite Version: Release 1.0

This was all i could pull of the Vag now i had the cel on before i did the job for the flow to low and insufficient flow, as far as the system too lean issues i do not know it was inspected not long b4 my issues started occuring i know the system too lean issue could be a number of things. The low voltage is from a dead battery had that cell checked battery just needed a full charge any suggestions on what to look at first. i also replace all off the cloth covered lines, and checked vacuum lines i will double check all of those to make sure they are on and not cracked and whatnot but im pretty sure i replaced them all i marked them all and replaced most. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Update

Ok so today i took off all my vacuum lines/breathers checked them all for leaks, pulled the EGT Sensor out and reinstalled it, i also noticed that the left Camshaft Position Sensor was slightly out of line backwards if you may didnt realize this before so after i put everything back together and changed the CPS around i got in the car got a jump hooked up to it and let it charge for a few minutes until i had about 14v on gauge i cranked it it stumbled and stalled, i kept trying and trying until finally bam it fired and started up, it was running very rough though, the engine was shaky and had some exhaust smoke coming from the left Exhaust Manifold at least i think as well as on the back of the head around where the Egr Valve bolts on. now what would be the cause of the engine being shaky like that i didnt let it run long due to the white smoke issue i will be taking the exhaust manifold off tomorrow as well as egr and replacing the gaskets in those. or adding some gasket sealer to them just to see if that is where the exhaust leak is occuring anyone have any suggestions on the rough idle or the engine shaking like its fighting to stay alive?

Seems like a tricky problem.

fuel, air and spark. obviously one of those isn't working properly. based on your vag-com I'm thinking a fuel problem (bank 1 and 2 too lean). I don't think any of the other faults up there would lead to the problems you describe.

with white smoke coming from your exhaust you may have bad/contaminated fuel or leftover "gunk" in your cylinders from before you did the head gaskets.

good luck

Did you use enough hand?

I can't help myself, I'm sorry but with a title like ....head job....my mind wanders.

Yea Beau just read a reply on audizine and someone said rough running/ multiple misfires and white smoke after a job like i have done is not uncommon as the engine is trying to burn out whatever coolant/water is left in the pistons/cams, he said as it misfires it will shutdown the injector and coil to that cylinder. when i get home from work today i will be working on it yet again, not so worried about exhaust leak so much as the rough running/misfires will also be trying to pull new codes off.

And thanx for the laugh at 4am Jeffia i cant blame ya hehe.
