Default 2001 A6 upper control arm problems??

Hello everyone,
I am looking for advice on how to deal with a warranty problem with Audi. I recently purchased a 2001 A6 4.2 with 63000 miles. The car is still covered by the certified audi warranty. In fact the warranty expires next monday. I brought my A6 to a local european shop to be looked over prior to having audi do any warranty work. While at the european shop their mechanic found that the upper control arm boots and bushings are torn on both sides. When I say torn I mean split in half. By the looks of it the bushings and boots don't appear to be worn down. I took the car to audi and told them of the problem. Audi came back at me agreeing that the bushings are torn and don't appear to be worn. Audi will not warrent this defect because the torn bushing has not failed completely. Audi says that there is no play in the control arm so the bushing does not need to be replaced at this time. It states clearly in the warrenty that the control arms are covered under the certified warranty. To fix the control arms would cost about 1100.00 total. Any advise out there. I sure appreciate it.

Default RE: 2001 A6 upper control arm problems??

Audi won't replace them because a lot of techs have got thier tit in the ringer because they replace too many that haven't completely failed and audi back flaged them, meaning they took away the money they already paid them. The reason is they pay about 4 hours to replace and most good techs can do them in about 40 minutes. They are probably still good anyway, if you don't hear a squeak noise coming from them then they are probably ok.
