I live in California and had my smog check yesterday. The mechanic said everything looks fine except the catalytic converter is not ready. I drove for 30 minutes before I dropped the car off for him to test immediately. He told me to come back next week and try again.

I know this 3.0L engine has issues with the catalytic converters and wondering if that is the culprit. I had 2 check engines lights come on in the last two months. I cleared them and they never came back. They were:
P0421 Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P0015 "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1)

I ran a Vag Com scan today and got 2 codes:
17819 Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2: Insufficient Flow
17831 Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 1: Insufficient Flow

Is it likely a bad cat or possibly the secondary air injection pump? Any ideas is much appreciated!
