2005 A6 Cold Engine Power Loss
I have a 2005 A6 that will have a sudden loss of power and the ESP sensor will kick on about 5 minutes into my trip when the outside temperature is in the 30 degree range or lower. No problems all Summer long, but when the weather turns colder, I can expect to drive for about 5 minutes, then the car suddenly feels like the transmission drops. I pull over and restart the car and then everything is fine. I took it to 2 dealers and spent $700 trying to figure out the problem - no answers from their computers.

I would find a new dealer. Audi has a TSB that addresses the following:
The customer may report:
• Engine may idle rough after a cold start.
• Engine may stumble or hesitate at slow initial acceleration after a cold start and under certain weather
conditions. Condition will not exist with warm engine.
Send me a PM with your e-mail address and mention the stumbling engine when cold problem and I will send you a copy of the TSB.
