A6 2.7t Crack...
When he removes the tank there will be fluid at the bottom of the tank that will come rushing out of the hole from which the windshield pump was removed. It sounds more like he does have a crack high up in the tank since the low fluid light is not coming on. In which case there will be even more fuild coming out of the pump holes.

Back in Febr 07, the job was around $ 127 at a Firestone shop (I found this in the car's maint records):

with the info from hcaudikeed - just the tank being $ 110, I bet you look at over $ 200 easily if you go to the dealer.
