After voltage rise.....the Malfunction Indicator lamp(MIL) came up and is stable
Hello Everyone,
Below are my car details. Around 3 days back i saw a rise in my car voltage from the mid level and it started moving towards the high voltage. I ignored it as i didn't get any warning signs but yesterday when i was driving, the Malfunction Indicator lamp(MIL) came up and is stable.
Can anyone please help me understand what would be the probable cause of this? and also recommend the approximate cost to fix this kind of problem.
Many thanks,
PB

A very strange thing happened, i went to the autozone to get the error code and once i came back and restarted the ignition the MIL(malfunction indicator lamp) is no longer illuminated while driving.
I called the autozone folks again to confirm if they have removed the error code and they didnt. Does anyone ever faced this before? . Also the errorcode was: P0130
Many thanks,
PB

P0130 = O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction,
Bank 1 = Pax side
Sensor 1 = upstream, front one before the pre-cat
OEM O2 is suggested, about $100, as it handles multi tasks, communicates with MAF to handle air/gas ratio before engine, cat are warm up.
There's CRC brand MAF sensor spray cleaner to clean the MAF wire dirt. You can also try CRC G2P cat cleaner to see if it helps to stop the CEL.

Some MIL (or CEL) will clear on their own if there was only one occurence of the error, and after a certain number of engine starts or miles. Others seem to stay on until cleared. When I was experiencing headlight leveling failure, the CEL would clear after I re-started the car. When my cats were failing, I had to manually clear the CEL. On a couple occasions it stayed on for over 400 miles and then cleared on it's own.
Your voltage should read about 13-14 (6 cells x 2.2 each) when the alternator is normally charging. If the battery is low, it may run higher for a short while when it charges. The same Autozone can provide a free battery and alternator test for you. I have them check my Audi annually since I am on my oem battery (after 204k miles!).

Great thanks for providing the detailed information......its really helpful...just one more thing, so once the MIL error code is cleared on its own, then does it mean that the car was able to fix the problem by its own or do i still need to take an action against the error code i got(P0130)?
The MIL sign is back again after riding it for two weeks.....I did went to Autozone again to get it checked and this time it has two error codes: P0130 and P0441, can anyone please let me know the cause and how to fix those?
Many thanks,
PB
