Default ATQ or AHA Engine '99 Avant 2.8

Hey Guys

I can't search for only 3 letters on the forum, how can i tell if my engine is ATQ or AHA?

I need to order a new MAF, probably from ECS in the $150 range but i have to know the engine type.

Will it be listed anywhere on the chassis, i have VAG-COM but i'm not sure where to look, didn't see anything in 01-Engine.

Its a 1999 Avant 2.8

Appreciate any pointers, cheers

I have a '99 A6 Avant 2.8 and it is the AHA engine. I am not sure of the difference between the AHA and the ATQ engines? Can anyone else chime in here?

AHA = Drive By Cable
ATQ = Drive By Wire

I think the short blocks are the same. Things that attach are a little different.

you should be able to look it up behind and under the power steering pump. It is etched on the the engine block lip....which you may need to wipe it clean to see the code.

Here's what the engines generally are, but you should always double check (all for 2.8L)

'95-'97 = AFC (12v i believe)
'98-'99 = AHA
'00-'01 = ATQ

To address the original post, however: have you tried cleaning your MAF with MAF cleaner?? It works wonders generally.

Thanks for the reply Guys.

I did have a look there Chefro, but i couldn't see clearly, so i just gave my local Audi dealer my VIN and he said it's an AHA.

Appreciate your help.

EDIT: @nm3210 Yeah i tried that, got the CFC cleaner but no good. My local independent still gets the MAF error

Its really sluggish when on full lock, going round tight corners or pulling across traffic, which they think could have something to do with MAF. They want $345 for a new one with fitting

Try looking at Force Five or Blauparts for the MAF
