cam problem
yes.. i changed the timingbelt. i timed the timingbelt again to day too. the marks on the left side of the engine is ok,line up like it should. on the right side of the engine i lined up the marks on the exhaust cam but it misses on the intake cam by some mm..
i dont understand why i misses..
Can i destroy the tensioner if i miss one tooth? i hope not...

BTW, when did this problem all start? If you trace your steps, and go back to the point where the problem started, then I would bet my money that whatever you did before that caused the issue. I say don't try anything else chasing ghosts.
Good luck.
sorry:-P i was talking about the cam chains.. the timingbelt is ok.
its not easy to trace it. the timingbelt was changed before i got the car. the timingbelt tensioner was bad and not changed so i had to change it. it was loose too,so i could tighten the bolts by hand!
so one problem let to another..
they did not do the timing right in the shop(non audi dealer) so i had to do it right my self. then i found out that the bolt that tighten the timingbelt weel on the exhaust cam(right engine side) was tighten to hard, and destroid it inside. probably not tighten to right Nm.
i had to replace the exhaust cam. then i lost the chaintensioner on the floor(expensive mistake!!) :-( and destroid the plastic half moon thats between the chain and the tensioner.
now when i put it all back,i cant see to found out whats wrong...
the car is runing better than it used to do so i will have the audi dealer to take a diagnostics test on it..
thx for all the help so far! :-)

Did you have the cam seals replaced when doing all of this? If you removed the timing belt cam gear it could have been put on wrong. There are alignment marks on both sides. If its on backwards it will make things difficult to time up. I did this on my 1.8 a4 and i would get one cam lined up but the other would be off. Its possible for the timing gear to move on the cam but it wont move the timing marks. This is such a critical part of the engine and you could bend valves if done correctly.

Too bad you had to run through all these hoops. Well, sometimes it is smart to call it quits and have someone else deal with it. It is definitely less agonizing to do that than to rack your brain and patience over it. Hope all works out.
mott6904:
i have not changed the seals.. and the timingbelt is right, having problem with the lineup with the cams. 3 cams is right but one is of by 3-5 mm..
i will have a talk with a mechanic at the audi dealer to find out whats wrong..

thats right..:-) my patience is over for now:-)

well.. took my car for a ride to day,it was not ok.. there is still somthing wrong.. loss of power and it shaken a lot. probably bad timeing. the timingbelt is correct so it has to be the intake cam or the chain that couses the problem.
Well obviously bank 2 cams are off. If I remember correctly the cam position sensor at the rear of the head is feeding off of the exhaust cam. If the cam position sensor or the pick-up was damaged, your car should still run fine. But the fact that it is running like crap is indicating something is actually misaligned. (duh...) Well if you are still up for messing with it, I would try what loach1 suggested first. Maybe I am way out of my league, but I would try retarding the intake cam by 13.5 degrees. (Count the number of teeth and divide 360 by the number to figure out the number of teeth to be moved) Since our motors run clockwise, you would need to lengthen the slack between the two cams. Do that, reset the timing belt and give it a shot.
Or once again, take it to a dealer for a less head ache. Good luck either way.
