The 3.2 engine in the A6 does not have a MAF. Instead of an MAF it uses engine rpm and manifold vacuum to computer air volume. Having said that, the paper filters are usually just as good as K&N and possibly better for some particle sizes. If the K&N style filters were better and produced more power/fuel economy you would think some manufacturer would install them as OEM. They all use paper so I figure there must be a good reason.
