CV Joint replacement issue

Yes, your CV joints can go bad with no sign of failure of the boots. Extremely rare, though.
Forget about the pinch bolt. Take off the two lower control arms from the chassis and that will give you plenty of room to remove the axle. You have to remove the sway bar end link and then remove the bolt that holds the strut to the front lower control arm. Depending on the side, you may have to lower the subframe an inch but you don't have to remove the subframe bolts, just run them out about an inch.

Okay I got the CV Joint replaced and found out that the tie rod was needed to be replaced as well.... so I was wondering may be it was just a tie rod issue that was causing the click noise rather than the CV shaft as Bob Martin mentioned its extremely rare for the shaft to be bad if the boots are fine...
