Gearbox, economy and noises
Hi all,
I have a 2010 A6 2.0tdi Le Man with 26,000 miles on the clock. I have had it 2 months and generally am very happy with it as it is a stunning car.
There are a couple of issues, although not sure whether I am just being paronoid.
1). The gearbox seems a bit stiff, especially on short journeys. In particular between 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. In a morning 1st is not always easy to get. On a newish car I would expect it to be much smoother?
2). The economy is not what I expected. Generally I get 35mpg around town, 48mpg on motorway and average 42mpg. Is that normal? On my old A4 I could thrash it and still average close to 50mpg?
3). The other day the radiator fan started up when I stopped the car after a short journey. It carried on running and did the same on a further two short journeys that day. It seemed quite hot. I read that this may be something to do with the DPF regen?
On the same day there was a whizzing noise when I changed gear from 1st to 2nd. It sounded like the car wheels spun, but they didn't.
I have not heard the noise since.
My wife thinks I am paranoid, anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks
Paul
