Default Help installing breather hose,W0133-1624629 Breather Hose, on back on engine

1998 A6 Quattro, 30v - 178k

I order a new breather hose that goes on the back of the engine. I am trying to rid my car of the infamous p0411 code.

Part number -
W0133-1624629 Breather Hose

I replaced the broken breather hose that connects to the valve covers, still have the code. There is a hose that is about a foot long that installs on the rear of the engine. Does anyone know what has to be removed in order to get the old hose out and install the new one. I don't want to brake anything in the process.

Thanks

Default My recent experience with breather hose

I just replaced the same hose on my 2001. I was also replacing the "suction pump" following a DIY from another forum. Anyway, I had the vacuum relay panel off - top of engine at the back - to get to the suction pump. For the rear breather hose, I pulled the flex hose on the air intake (downstream of MAF) and the hard piece that transitions to the throttle body. With those removed, I could access the place on the block where the rear breather hose attaches. My car has 140K, so the old hose was quite stiffenned up and I couldn't get the release rings to compress. So I just used needle nose pliers to break the rings and get the old hose off at both the block and the larger breather hose connection.

I replaced my suction pump not too long ago. Thanks for the tips, I have the hose and hope to get in installed soon. I have the cursed P0411 code, and I think that hose may be the culprit.

I was able to replace the hose but the P0411 still returns. The hunt for the cause of the code continues. I am running out of places to look.

Check and if not replace all your 3.5 mm vacuum lines.

I have done that. I think I will check the 2 plastic hoses that connect to the SAP and see if they need to be replaced.

My favorite answer... Check the vacuum line. Check the line from the solenoid to the combi valves.

Line is good there. Still looking for where the leak is. It apparently does not want to be found.

You can try some propane enrichment, just use a torch one not lit obviously and with the car on hear for an increase in RPM. You can also check your one way check valves by simply blowing into them.
