Would you say i need to do the other parts at the same time as the timing belt?
I understand it will be easier and probably cheaper that way but i will only be able to do the timing belt alone in a couple months the soonest.
And another thing, from my friends who've owned Audi A4's in the past have told me a TB job runs between 25-35 hundred. Is that exaggerated? My mechanic said about 1100 but that was just a rough estimate not exact. I already know going to my Audi dealership is gonna run me $120/hr labor plus the part. Like i said 2 moths is the soonest, any ideas?

You have to pull the front end of the car forward (service position). The labor is 6 hours for a A6 2.7T and 7.5 hours for an A4 3.0. The parts are about $400 - do them all at once. You try and save $15 on a thermostat and it fails, you'll pay hundreds to get at it and fix it. Your labor rates are $70-80 for a good indie shop and $120+ for a dealer. I did both my A6 and A4 last winter, at a cost of $900 and $1100 ($78/hr). You have 118k and a worn TB. Fix it right or you may have a two ton paperweight in your driveway.
