Default Jack Frost hates Audi locks

Its gettin cold. Bit of frost and bang! Doors wont shut. It seems to only effect both front doors. Once you get in the car and try to shut the doors the locks are that frozen they're jammed. Its either sit in the car for half an hour warming the car up enough for them to defrost, or get the hair drier, or park the **** on the door till its numb! Anybody have any good ideas. Ave tried WD40 in the locks however this has a freezing point, found that out to my frustration last year.
Ta very much

Oh yea, I remember that my Driver's door does that. I think these cars are made to be garaged and resent any lessor treatment.

I dare to disagree - up to -42C I had no problems so far:
-regular lubrication of all locks (WD40 is not a lubricant) and of all rubber door seals.
One have to consider the air humidity that makes real problems..
Audi's are proven to had been built with components for specific climate zone-moving cars between zones could be tricky-there are many reports of issues that are tracked to the climate..

If lube alone doesn't work, try adjusting your striker out about 1/2 mm.

Hmmmmmmmmmm only had this problem once in my old 80 sport and all I did was put my key in a jug of hot water warm the key up itself and it simply melting the ice inside the door lock and that was that. Now with the Avant dont have any problems at all and it's been -4.5 to -5.0 over night for the last few night and -3.5 to -4.0 in the morning and she'd opened up ok.

tttoptotty,

It isn't a lock problem, its a latch problem. The locks work fine. The door won't latch when it is really cold out.

bottom line is you need a cold temp lubricant likr lubriplate or something. You need to work it in however before it gets cold ..

Well up to now since i lubbed the locks with a decent oil. Cleaned rubber door seals with a light oil agent everythin has been fine, the doors don,t freeze to the body, locks work every time. One thing i noticed as it gets colder, Sat Nav has trouble starting up. Unable to read disc. When the car warms up it will eventually start workin. I expect its down to the cold and condensation for when i remove the disc there's a film condensation on the disc. Suppose its someat to live with.
