Hey guys, I'm new to the forums so this is also my introduction. I just bought an 03 Audi a6 3.0 quattro with 77,750 miles from a private seller yesterday. When I test drove it everything was fine.The cars condition is like new. I got the car for 8750. I had to talk them down to this price. It was originally at 9450. Only because it was a married couple who had two other SUV's with kids. The Audi was their first car before they had kids and it has always been serviced at Audi(Ive seen the carfax). But every so often the dashboard light that is a triangle with a exclamation mark inside with a circle around it comes on. Sometimes it does not turn on but it usually happens after a little driving. I dont know what it is. I will bring it to the audi dealer tomorow since no service shop is open today to fix the brake light pressure sensor because the brake lights stay on(which I knew about) and have them look at everything but I'm just hoping it wont cost me much. Do you guys have any idea what this could be?

Sounds like a description of the ESP light.

 

Sounds like the traction light. Could be one of the speed sensors. If there is any play with the balljoints or anything loose in the suspension it could also throw this light on randomly. Are your tires worn evenly? Quattro can be picky with tire size differences.

 

yes it is the esp light. from riding it im pretty sure it isnt the tire sizes. It does need a bit of a tire alignment. Also just an update I drove it to school today its like 150 mile drive. When I was almost at school the speed limit changed and i slowed down to the 2nd gear and when I tried to accelerate the car would not up shift. It just sort of shuttered for a while then the check engine light started flashing. Then I pressed on the gas harder it jumped right back to 3rd and was fine after. The carfax for this car was clean other than a minor accident in its early miles. Did not have any of these problems when i test drove it, and me and my cousin both drove it.
