Let's hear about it! How many miles on your A6?
My 2000 2.7t just hit 114,000 miles. It needed new rear brakes (pads and rotors and 1 caliper) and needs a new resonator. Other than that it rides like new. Too bad the leather seats are split in several places and the inside mirror needs replacement again. I run Mobil 1 0W-40 and that cleaned the inside of the motor after the past owner ran conventional oil (and grew a small amount of sludge).
My newly purchased 1999 A6 has 99500.
Smooth sailing so far. This is my first Audi purchase and I'm impressed with it build quality. Very solid and smooth. Now squeaks or rattles. The PO babied it and it's in near mint condition.
I was amused that both front and back cigarette lighters were still virgins.
Love this car!
And to whoever said you always hear bad things. I probably wouldn't have posted this without being prompted.

Agassi, what motor do you have in it? Also, what is your change interval? Mine was purchased at 47,000 and had 4 changes at that point. While there was no sludge, certainly brownish color on the valve train. Much worse than my Dodge or Ford that had seen regular 3,000 to 4,000 changes on conventional oil. I plan to change this weekend and run something like Rislone for 1,000 and change again to clean it.
135,000
135,000
I have the 3.0 engine. I used to change at 10k at Audi only. After 110k I started to change about 7k. I have used an S&S engine flush since and have seen dramatic results. Getting ready to change the valve covers for the second time in a year since they are leaking again. I even did the water pump and valve cover gaskets and bolts like they recommended and they are still re-leaking.
No offense to anyone on this board, and I know in some of the new manuals Audi recommends oil changes every 10k miles, but I would NEVER wait that long between changes. Yes I know today's synthetics are great wont break down for light years, but the oil gets dirty. It may not break down but it gets dirty. That's part of its job. To collect dirt. To lubricate and collect dirt. In America we change our oil way to often. 3
K miles is crazy but 10k is crazier! I do between 5-7 with Amsoil or Mobile 1 0-40. Especially with the direct injection engines that leave carbon build up and apparently have some sludge issues. I'm at 145k miles on my 05 3.2. Still runs like its new.. JMO. Thanks everyone and happy motoring. Viva Audi!
