Rear Fog Light Repalcement
Whammy,
My '90 had one foglight. I knew nothing about it. Got stopped one evening for a "burnt out light", warning, go home and get it fixed.
Found out Euros have a single fog light (actually, looked inside the trunk lid, saw that there was a hole for a light on the other side, thought that someone had either had a burnt wire issue, clipped off the right side socket, or replaced the lid.
Had to go to a shop to find out the push switch on the dash was a switch for the light.
Just bought a '97 A6 and the dash buttons show TWO buttons with the same icon. No book. Has this thing got TWO foglights, TWO switches?
I found and printed out the foglight thing, in the glovebox, in case I got stopped, again. Never was.
Shop told me they had done extensive work on a car, lady got stopped and ticketed for burnt out tail light, went back raising all kinds of hell. They gave her print out of the rules, she fought it in court, won.
TWO bright lights WOULD look as though you were riding the brake pedal.
Cheers,
George
Bad is, if you remove the bulb, it would probably flash on the in car computer, and you wouldn't know if another bulb had burnt out. I think that mine own does not tell me WHICH bulb is burnt out, unless it is a brake light. I have had that, and I have had that damned icon flash almost since I bought that damned car. I don't have a single bulb that does not light up, but have read here that bulbs with uneven resistance will cause the computer to say you have a bulb burnt out. Including the glove box and hood and trunk lights.
Audi seems to be too smart for my own good.
