Shifting Issue
I'm new to this site but here is the problem. I have a 2002 A6 Front wheel drive I know I should of bought a Quattro. Well I did. But thats a later story. Now the A6 I thought it had a transmission problem so I brought it to a tech. And he said it's not the tranny. When I drive in between 30 to 40 it seems to skip or not know to switch gears. I'm lost not sure wht to look at or check out. Plugs are good, wires are good. It rides great besides this hipcup. Any Thoughts?
Isn't that the problem that the D2 A8's have? searching for gears at highway speed. That was a TCM (transmission control module) problem, may want to have the TCM looked at. At least search some threads on the A8's and see if that sounds like your issue.
I hear so much bad news about the CVT trany. I also just read a thread that stated they need regular servicing at 30/40K. have you changed the fluid and filter lately?
Was the tech familiar with Audi transmissions? would he have known or been able to check the TCM. How about a second opinion cause something doesn't sound right about his answer. If it's not the transmission what did he think it was?
