Default Starting trouble

Ok, So I thought i had my problem figured out when i read a few post about ECT problems. I have replaced the ECT sensor and the problem remains... My oil sensor has turned on a few times in the past couple of months and was wondering if a bad temperature gauge in the sensor could be causing the problem... It has become so had to start my A6 2.7t that I actually killed the battery trying to get it to start... Also is an oil sensor a quick fix?

Did you check the MAF sensor?

Anyways are you getting any codes? VAGcom will probably show codes that are not shown on typical OBD II reader.

When's the last time the fuel filter was changed? You need more fuel pressure for startup than running, and if your filter is clogged, it may be giving you trouble. Also, it could be the fuel pressure regulator. To test it, pinch off the vacuum line to the FPR with a clamp and try starting it - if it starts right up with the line pinched, replace the FPR.
