thanks, I found the purge valve for like $70 bucks...but i read on some other threads that the EVAP canister might be bad and cause the valve to jam up...is that so? I dont know, have you heard of that happening? thanks again hxgaser!

Possibly, but I don't know to be honest... If you know for sure that the valve is not clicking away, and you know that it is not the wiring problem. I would just replace the valve itself. As for checking the wiring, refer to this website.

Okay, i just got a new PV and when I installed it, it wasn't clicking. So i moved a wire a little and it started clicking for about 30 sec. then stopped. Kinda frustrating...Well, now I'm really thinking its the wiring.

Hxgaser, I looked at the website you gave me and it looks like I need a certain VAG tester...

When should the PV be clicking, all the time?

Is there any way to test the wiring with a multimeter?

Is there any particular spot that the wire might wear through making it ground out?

Thanks, Dan

Just connect the multi meter from terminal 1 to 2 and you should get 12V when you turn the starter. If you get the valve going by jiggling, it may actually be a bad connector. Do you have a VAGcom?

No, i dont have a VAGcom, although I am planning on getting one. I just have to start making some money first(read: get done with school)

I checked it and it does not have power when i start it up. But when i was checking something else today, I bumped some wiring over there and it kicked on and stayed on. But when i started the car up about an hour later it wouldn't come on. The connection is clean and tight, the fuse is good, so it must be the wiring?

Sounds like wiring to me... but if you have VAGcom, you can test it more specifically. Without it, you are basically playing crap shoot. See if you can isolate the part of wiring that makes difference. Good luck.
