Transmission Trouble
I have an A6 1.8 petrol with 105k milesand the automatic gearbox is in bad shape and only getting worse. I have the car 18 months now and this is the only problem.
Where do i start, the main problem is that it really bangswhen shiftingfrom 2nd gear to 3rd if that makes sense, but there are more problems like stalling after i brake or stalling form take off at lights etc..As i drive it gets really smooth and ive never had any problems in the higher shifts (3rd to 4th, 4ht to 5th). Also if i drive particularly fast this seems to stop or at least bypass the rough gear change. I have had 3 transmission fluid changes in the 18 months and i had the gearbox reprogrammed but it hasnt gotten anybetter, its gotten worse. None of the fluid changes were done by audi dealers, just done by different garages.I dont think there is any value in getting a new or reconditioned gearbox as i hear that can cost up to 2000 euro. What do you think is wrong with the transmission and how do i go about fixing it andcan i go to an Audi dealership to just get an assessment done.

RE: Transmission Trouble
Your best bet is to take it to a transmission shop and have them diagnose it. Maybe your torque converter lockout is not disengaging and causing your engine to stall when stopping and your harsh shifts. Maybe a bad sensor, is your check engine light on? if so what codes are stored in there?

RE: Transmission Trouble
the check engine light is not on and also I had a garage connect my car up their computer system and they said it wasn't reading any faults with the transmission although I had explained the symptoms to them. Do I need to go to an audi specific garage or just any transmission specialist garage
