2006 A8 Trunk Lid Problems
I'm positive it has something to do with the cold weather! I haven't open my trunk in almost a month! I guess when the weather breaks I can began using my trunk again. It's crazy you pay all this money for a car and can't even put groceries in your trunk! Honestly I will think twice about buying an Audi again!
What?
It cud work!!!
Seems to be a common problem. My 2004 already has the trunk close motor replaced one under CPO. This Winter, if you can call it that in San Diego, the trunk would open with difficulty and sometimes not at all. I greased up all hinges with no improvement. Instead of replacing the motor, I replaced struts (lifter shocks). They are about $80 a pair, OEM. Replacement takes about one minute. No need to remove the clamps, just slide a screwdriver in the visible slot, top first and they come lose. Installing is an easy snap on.
The trunk opened like I have never seen before, great. But closing is a different story, indicating that the motor is indeed not up to the task anymore. I experimented with different combinations of old and new struts, left and right and found one where open and close works decent.
Thought I passed that on.
