Default clicking noise!!

HI all, just want to say hello as new to this forum!!

Now on to a problem ive just developed.

I parked my a8 on a hill the other day outside my parents. i applied the handbrake and let the car sit on the handbrake, then put the box into (PARK), went in for a few hours for a brew,
came back out to the car to go. Started the engine fine, however when i released the (PARK) there was a clunk noise and the car move forward slightly as the handbrake wasnt all that good so it had slowly sat on the gearbox?? over those few hours of me being away. Now when i drive in (D) i hear a clicking noise coming from under the car.

Can anyone shed light on this?? Its not affecting performance or anything else its just a noise but would like to know if this sounds expensive, because being an engineer myself and what has occured as ive explained it sounds pricey to me

What does (PARK) do?? does it lock the wheels or does it sit the car on the box??

Please help

Thanks

Default RE: clicking noise!!

At your parents!? Wish i had an A8.....
I think the tranny was just sitting on the parking sprawl, if you're ever in a chevy van or truck and do the same thing you'll hear the biggest bang ever.
It also depends on what year A8 you have, older D2 A8's (96-03) do have a lot of tranny problems which you might wanna keep an eye on.
