I have a 2005 A8L and i came outside to find my car unlocked and someone had been in it. without ever thinking about it, i keep my valet key in the glove box and it's now gone along with my manual. I moved my car to a friends garage! don't know why they just didn't just take the car?? How bad is it ? and what should i do now ? Dudes Help !!!

 

They'd be able to use the valet key and steal the whole car now. You can have the remaining keys programmed again to the car. Example, if 3 keys were previously programmed and now you only program the 2 remaining keys, the valet key won't start the car anymore. Unfortunatley, it'll still unlock the door though.

 

Yes, unprogramme that key and bung up the lock with epoxy.

 

look at the people around you, does anyone else
drive your car ? where do you keep your spare
keys ? if you locked the car for the evening
then how did it get unlocked ? if not anyone
around you then i would suspect that the thief
has a way to disarm the alarm/anti-theft and
they will likely be back for the car. keep a
watchful eye on the car and neighborhood.
maybe get the authorities involved so as to get
fingerprints and make frequent by your place.
a lil harder if you stay in apartments. .02 cents

 

Thanks for all the advice. I had the remaining keys re-programmed and will just have to live with the fact that "whoever" can get in. I just don't leave valuables in the car anymore.
