Heres the deal.My car has died in a town 500 miles from home.Thought it was the fuel pump.Had that delivered and a local shop put it in.The car starts and runs for a few miles of testing and stalls again.No warning lights.To be clear the old fuel pump did go out.The local shop says my car is "finikey" so they pull the pump and reinstall.it starts runs and then stalls again.I'm going on 4 days with my family stuck in a hotel far from home.Funds are running out!INPUT please! anyone???Frustrated in the mid west! side note we were returning from a 3000 mile road trip when the car suddenly jerked and stalled.trip was smooth up until this point.

 

Did you replace the filter too? A clogged fuel filter can kill a pump pretty easily.

 

Why was the fuel pump replaced? Was it just a guess?

Agreed with Imthedevel , if the fuel pump did fail it is a must that the filter get replaced!

Fuel pressure reading when vehicle dies?

Are they reading the codes with a VAG COM or some other generic scanner?

 

Filter was just replaced.Fuel pump was shot.Pressure is good.The car starts and runs for 2 to 3 min's and the stalls.The codes were MAF related, 4 codes in all.Not sure.and yes they are using a generic scanner.This is a small town without a foreign car mechanic anywhere.We just want to get home!

 

It would be a good idea to monitor the voltage going too the fuel pump. Could have a relay dropping out when it is getting warm.

Please let us know the outcome!

 

Don't know it u have transfer pump o4 does. Check that. If main pump doesn't work transfer pump will start car and run for 30 sec.
