valve knocking noise on a 2004
my engine has been knocking a little, its like a valve ticking noise or rocker arms or something like that. it only starts making this noise when the engine warms up.
i heard from a few people to put heavier oil in, and so i did, i did 5w-30 synthetic and its the same problem.
is there something i can do to get rid of this noise without tearing the engine apart? the car only has 90k on it.
heres the link to the video of the engine... -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aaJ9SstfpU

Well i don't mean to ask the obvious, but is the ticking engine speed related? Try taking off the accessory belt and running the engine to see if the noise is still there. If it is, find a good vacuum line (i use the FPR line) and slowly pour in a can of seafoam until its empty. This will make the motor bogg down and heavy smoke will come from the exhaust, but it will clean all that carbon out of your engine. If you fancy ARCO (British petroleum) gas (which is crap BTW) it will foul up the intake valves something awful and it needs to be cleaned out. I would also pour a half can of seafoam into the crankcase, drive 50 miles and change the oil and filter. That thicker oil trick only ever works on american cars for some reason.

This may help
Sometimes the spark plug wires come loose from the spark plug or the coil. I have not really checked if the coil sits on top but check them to make sure they are tight and connected. Just one thing to check that is easy and often over looked.
