prob both, my dad doesn't want to be the reason my 14k dollar new cars engine seizes and head explodes on ya know? I wonder if i buy the part if a shop will just do labour for like 600

Remember too, the majority of the time the TT's experience a "belt breaking" its because another component failed. A water pump pulley, a tensioner, something along those lines. Its not always the belt that is at fault. When my "belt broke" it was because of the water pump pulley. Not saying its a bad thing to change the belt, but if you are going to do it, have the shop take alook at all of the components that the belt drives. They are going to be there anyway.

i have a local shop that will replace the whole front of the engine like you listed including belt and waterpump stuff, for 1k

so ur roadster broke? did the belt actually break in half or was it missing teeth mine was missing about 10 teeth (it looked like someone cut them it was wierd)

Thats exactly what I thought! It looked like someone cut it. If it wasnt a gauraged car I would have worried. The dealer suspects that it jump the water pump pulley and snapped. I dont know. I did have to replace the water pump too. All in all it was 500.00 out the door. I look at like this though. The car is an 01 but now it has an 05 top end.

Damn it! One upped again. LOL How is it running now? Since the repair mine seems to have regained some life.

yeah its running fine "knock on wood" bout to change the haldex fluid and filter tonight hopefully
