hmmm if i was to map out a plan i'd go:

1.timing belt/wp/tensioner
2.other needed maintenance
3.boost gauge
4.chip and diverter valve

after that the sky's the limit but thats a good sensible place to start....

Kinda funny, because a chip is on the bottom of my list, but I've been thru all this before, know what it'll do, and know what I want to do.

I'll also stress maintenance first. Don't go ***** out buying mods until you're sure the car is ready.

Check out www.ross-tech.com and look into a vag-com cable, which may now be refered to as 'VCDS'. While not exactly a mod, it'll let you have full diagnostics abilities just the same as the dealer. Helpful whether your stock or not, its MUCH better than your basic code reader. You can go in and alter some of the coding in the ECU, which is good for fun things like making your windows go up/down from 30' away using the key fob, or actual adjustment to engine parameters, as simple as adjusting idle, to changing timing, as a few on here are doing now with water/methanol injection.
While you're spending money, the Bentley manual on CD is a pretty good resource. It's pretty much the shop manual the techs at the dealership are using. Believe you can get a small discount on it if you buy it with the vag-com cable.

Otherwise, most suggestions have been covered. Chip, DV, maybe sway bars if you want (upgrade the rear to help with understeer). I also recommend the powerflex a-arm bushings offered on TTStuff, but it's not exactly a DIY job unless you have a press to get the old bushings out. I fought with mine, even WITH a 50 ton press. Those made a big difference in reducing understeer.

well went and found my TT today
as soon as my check comes for my loan, its mine.
the pump and belt was just changed at 114k

needs new discs/rotors
are the the stock rotors actually just the ATE ones on mjm and for that price?
i was thinking about getting the power slot rotors because they are cadium coated (and i dont think the neuspeed or ate's are)

who sells good gauge pods? i would just like to put the boost gauge on the steering wheel column if someone knows who sells something like that.

K&N filters are $50, are there any like cheap ebay intakes that will do the same damn thing anyway? or will i be paying >$170 for an intake?(if so ill just get a K&N)

also my friends friend can chip it for $450, so that will be the first actual mod.

Just installed some ATE rotors on my brothers car, seem fine. Had powerslots on my last car and their slots edge really eats pads fast. No real need for drilled or slotted on a street car.

For the gauge, you can just remove he vent and slide the gauge in with the supplied C bracket and you are good, no need for custom or vent rings.

For the intake, just drill some holes in the box and add in the filter. An intake isnt going to net you anything on a stock turbo since the box flows plenty. See sig

your on the right track.. i personally went with upgrading the wheels / tires (your welcome chm!), K&N Intake, Dahlback DV, then a couple very low dollar little accessories like smoked signals and new shift ****.. i would say you should drive it around and then figure out what you want next. I took the time to ask a million annoying questions learning about how to do the mods that i want to do properly. I wanted to make sure i knew exactly what i needed to lower my car. I am looking at getting a chip next.. then lowering it and then exhaust. You should do your research and get a plan of whats important to you, whatever it is you want !
